Since Christmas we have been doing lots of work on Scots Language,
discussing the Scots words we know, sharing our favourite Scots words
and finding out new ones.
We have made a list of all our favourite words on a Scots Vocabulary
Tree in our classroom.
We started off with some DPA to ‘Heids, Shuiders, Knees and Taes’, then
we went on to find out the names of different parts of the body by
labelling ‘Doadies Boadie’.
As part of our homework we had to find out 5 Scots words and their
meanings. We have since
been using them to make Scots placemats, coasters and also to make book
marks in IT. We are hoping
to sell these items at a special afternoon where our parents can come to
see the work we have been doing in class.
Primary 3’s challenge during Scots language week was to find out about
famous Scottish characters.
We have read lots of Stories as a class and made posters of our
favourite characters. We
also found out about Scotland’s most famous characters ‘The Broons’ and
‘Oor Wullie’. In our groups
we were each given a character to describe using only Scots Words.
